프랑스·미국 국운의 황혼기.

프랑스 경제는 침체에 빠지고 방만한 복지국가의 무게를 감당하지 못하고 있다.

The French economy is stagnant, weighed down by a bloated welfare state.

 

높은 세금과 고삐 풀린 정부 지출은 경제를 경직시켰고 심각한 실업과 예산적자가 급격히 늘어나고 있다.

High taxes and runaway spending have led to economic sclerosis, severe unemployment and soaring deficits.

 

프랑스의 국가부채 대 국내총생산 비율은 분수령인 90%에 도달했다. 이 비율을 넘으면 국가 파산을 피하는 것이 거의 불가능해진다.
France's debt-to-gross-domestic-product (GDP) ratio is at 90 percent - the tipping point at which it is almost impossible for a nation to avoid bankruptcy.

 

올랑드는 공공지출을 늘리고 500만 프랑스 무슬림의 처우를 개선하고 백만장자들에게 75%의 세율을 적용하여 부자들로부터 많은 돈을 받아내겠다고 약속한다.

He promises to increase public spending, expand outreach to France's swelling 5 million Muslims, and soak the rich with a 75 percent tax rate on millionaires.

미국이 그 뒤를 따를 가능성이 있다.

America likely will follow.

 

급격히 늘어나는 국가부채, 높은 실업률, 국가 신용등급 하락, 방대한 공공 부분의 부패, 국가 정체성 상실, 무제한적인 제3세계 이민의 유입, 여기에 맞물린 호전적 다문화주의 등 프랑스의 수많은 문제를 미국도 공통적으로 안고 있다.

Many of France's problems - skyrocketing debt, high unemployment, a credit-rating downgrade, a vast and corrupt public sector, the loss of national identity, and nearly unlimited Third World immigration combined with militant multiculturalism - are shared by the United States.

미국과 프랑스의 국가운명이 서로 인연을 맺은 것은 1776년으로 거슬러 올라간다.

Going back to 1776, the destinies of America and France have been intertwined.

 

유감스럽게도 지금 두 나라는 모두 국가적인 문명의 황혼을 맞고 있다. 

Sadly, they are both in the twilight of their civilizations.
